A bill now moving through committee would add several X-linked conditions to the standard newborn screening panel. For families, earlier detection can mean starting support and — increasingly — treatment years sooner.
Today, the average family waits more than two years between first concerns and a confirmed diagnosis. That “diagnostic odyssey” delays therapies, school support, and access to research studies. Adding these conditions to the panel would catch many of them in the first weeks of life.
